History

The Spartan Aircraft Company, founded in 1928, initially produced aircrafts and aircraft parts. After WWII, with J. Paul Getty as one of its owners, the company shifted to trailer and coach building in the early 1940s through the 1960s, producing over 40,000 units. During that era, Spartan trailers were regarded as the “Cadillac” of travel trailers.

This 1947 Spartan Spartanette 24’ originally featured a spacious living room, bathroom, kitchenette, and dining/lounge area. It was constructed with an aluminum monocoque body design, similar to their airplanes, along with birch wall and ceiling paneling and linoleum flooring. The Spartanette was a mid-range model compared to the larger 30' and 33' Mansion models.
