Innovative Spaces was founded in Ventura, California in 2007 by Nate Mendoza, who started the company after years of restoring vintage Airstreams as a hobby and recognizing that no shop in the region was offering true design and build services for custom mobile spaces. Today the company operates out of a workshop in Ventura with a team of twelve craftspeople including designers, project managers, fabricators, electricians, plumbers, finish carpenters, and a full upholstery shop.
Our team brings backgrounds from architecture, marine fabrication, custom home building, automotive restoration, and industrial design. That mix is intentional. A great Airstream renovation pulls techniques from all of these disciplines, and a great commercial trailer build requires understanding both vehicle engineering and brand experience design.
We are independently owned, work directly with every client from first call through delivery, and do not take referral fees from suppliers. Every recommendation we make is the one we would make for our own build.
Our ethos is straightforward. We build mobile spaces that are honest about what they are, that work as well in year ten as they do in year one, and that reflect the people and brands they belong to. We document the entire process so clients understand what we built, why, and how to maintain it. Read more about our team, our founder Nate, and our process on this page.
